Those Annoying Patio Leaf Stains

So you've just had your new patio laid and you're delighted with it only to find it becoming increasingly stained by the leafs dropping. What do you do?
Obviously sealing the patio will help to prevent these leaf stains from cementing themselves onto the surface of your paving or even getting into the grain of the slab itself. This will help with general upkeep and will allow jet-washing to get the job done in most occasions.
However, what if you haven't sealed your patio or frustratingly the jet wash had little or none of the desired effect and you're still left with the picture above?
Cleaning your patio can be an incredibly difficult task mainly because of the suitability of products and when you've spent thousand of pounds of a new patio, you don't want it to be ruined as this would be a disaster.
Generally speaking, it is best to avoid acid based cleaners on your patio especially when you have used Limestone however a customer recently sent us in
some photos where they had used an acid based cleaner.
The cleaner they had used was a product named Lithofin Outdoor Cleaner which on the label states it is suitable for all natural and artificial stone. Over at Rivar Sand and Gravel, we were quite surprised with the outcome considering the paving slabs the Lithofin was used on is our Azure Limestone.
As you can see from the picture above and the progress photos below, it made quite a dramatic difference and brought the feature slabs amongst the bark back to life.
On this occasion, Lithofin did a fantastic job but we must advise you to be careful using acid based cleaners on Limestone paving and also be wary when applying it on Sandstone also. Generally we advise customers to do a small test area on one of the slabs that need cleaning as each site has different conditions and may have a completely different reaction.
